Walks around Moneglia
Walks are grouped by effort. Distances and times come from the guide’s research and route records; they are planning estimates, not a surveyed track. Check weather alerts and local notices on the day.
Easy strolls in town
Flat or gently sloping streets, good for any day and for short legs.
Moneglia
In Moneglia · Moneglia
Pastel houses, little lanes and a coffee by the sea. The easiest way to settle into your holiday.
- Distance and time
- 10–15 min walk · 0.4–0.8 km
- Time to allow
- 1–2 hours
- Before you go
- Allow 2–3 km for a leisurely outing. The way back to hillside accommodation is uphill. Dog access to beaches is a separate question; choose the streets in rough seas.
Santa Croce church
Culture & classes · Moneglia
A second short church visit to combine with wandering through the old town.
- Distance and time
- 0.8-1 km / 15-20 min
- Time to allow
- 15-25 minutes
- Before you go
- Check access before relying on it as an indoor plan. Interior access unverified; consider alternating visits. Reconfirm date-specific opening and booking requirements.
Oratorio dei Disciplinanti
Culture & classes · Moneglia
A small historic oratory beside Santa Croce, with layers of fresco decoration and a place in Moneglia’s cultural life.
- Distance and time
- Walk through Moneglia to Santa Croce
- Time to allow
- 20–40 minutes if access is arranged
- Before you go
- Interior access is not guaranteed. Ask locally about visits and concerts; this is a separate stop from Santa Croce church.

Uphill paths with steps and uneven ground. Choose a dry, clear day and good shoes.
The view from Lemeglio
Walks · Moneglia
Walk up to a tiny hillside village and see the bay from a different perspective.
- Distance and time
- 45–60 min uphill · 2–3 km one way
- Time to allow
- 1.5–2.5 hours
- Before you go
- There is a fair amount of climbing. Steps and sloping surfaces can be slippery. Choose a day with clear views.
Venino–Montelugo
Walks · Moneglia
A local woodland loop among old terraces, valleys and rural scenery above Moneglia.
- Distance and time
- Starts above Via Venino · 4–5 km in total
- Time to allow
- 1.5–2 hours
- Before you go
- The recorded route is old and current access is unverified. Uneven ground and stream valleys make this unsuitable for rain. Ask the tourist office about current access.
Torre di Punta Baffe
Walks · Riva Trigoso / Moneglia
A coastal hike to a former watchtower above the sea, on the trail network between Riva Trigoso and Moneglia.
- Distance and time
- Train to Riva Trigoso + trail approach; route choice matters
- Time to allow
- Plan 2–4 hours walking depending on route; travel extra
- Before you go
- The tower is a hiking destination, not a drive-up viewpoint. A through-route to Moneglia is a different, longer plan; verify the route and trail conditions.
Monte Comunaglia
Walks · Moneglia / Riva Trigoso
A ridge outing above the coast on the Monte Moneglia–Comunaglia trail network, for a day when you want more than a short seafront walk.
- Distance and time
- Choose a mapped route from Moneglia or Riva Trigoso
- Time to allow
- Allow 3–5 hours walking, depending on route
- Before you go
- Several approaches exist. The time is a planning allowance, not a measured route; get a current hiking map and confirm the chosen ascent and return.

Coastal walks by train
Take the train out and walk back to a station, without needing the car.
Levanto → Bonassola
Walks · Levanto / Bonassola
Follow an old railway through illuminated tunnels and out to sea views. Paved and relatively flat, with plenty of reasons to pause.
- Distance and time
- Train to Levanto 15–25 min · drive 45–60 min
- Time to allow
- 2–4 hours there
- Before you go
- The coastal section is about 2.5 km; allow 4–5 km with station approaches and village wandering. Take the train home from Bonassola. Shared with cyclists: use a short lead. Check closures and sea conditions first.

Olive terraces, woodland and a rewarding headland viewpoint. The strongest nature walk on this shortlist.
- Distance and time
- Train 10–15 min + walk to trailhead
- Time to allow
- 2–2.5 hours walking
- Before you go
- About 4–5 km return and 200 m of ascent. Start at Vico del Bottone / Salita della Mandrella. You can skip the final steep steps. Avoid wet or slippery conditions.

Walks · Sestri Levante
A historic path between Sestri Levante and Cavi, with ruined church walls and wide coastal views.
- Distance and time
- Train to Sestri Levante + walk to the trail approach
- Time to allow
- 1–2 hours on foot, depending on route; travel extra
- Before you go

Moneglia to Deiva Marina
A coastal path between Moneglia and Deiva Marina appears in tourism sources, but this guide has not verified its current route, condition or closures. It is not recommended here until it has been checked. Ask the tourist office before planning it.
Weather, closures and safety
Paths above the sea can be slippery after rain and may close after storms or rockfalls. Check the regional alert system before setting out, carry water, and turn back if a route is closed or feels unsafe.
